Hours to the reconvention of the House of Representatives, another peace move to resolve the dispute over the appointment of principal officers has failed to yield any specific result.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday evening met with the All Progressives Congress members in the House. And at the end of close to three hours of closed-door meeting, the contending groups stuck to grounds.
Chairman of the party, John Oyegun said that before Monday night is spent, there will be an acceptable compromise. This is corroborated by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara who expressed optimism that the worst moment is behind the party.
Former minority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the meeting endorsed party supremacy and promised that Nigerians will be informed on the direction of things by the end of the day.
“We are still talking and this is the first time that the two camps will be sitting together as one family in an atmosphere of camaraderie,” he said.
