The West African Examination Council has withheld results of 118,101 candidates in the May/June 2015 Senior School Certificate Examination.
WAEC Head of National Office, Mr. Charles Eguridu announced this at a press briefing in Lagos.
The number withheld is made partly of candidates from public schools in states indebted to WAEC which has reduced to 13. Mr. Eguridu said the results will not be released until the states liquidate the debt.
616,370 candidates which is 38.68% of the 1.49 million results fully released had credit in Mathematics and English Language. This is a slight improvement from the results of 2013 and 2014 which have 38.30% and 31.28% respectively.
758,849 candidates representing 47.62% had 6 credits and above and 949,862 candidates which is 59.61% of the total results have credits in 5 subjects and above.
109 blind candidates registered and sat the examination. 20 out of this obtained credit in 5 subjects and above, including Mathematics and English.
According to WAEC, candidates can check the results on the council’s website by Tuesday afternoon.
