A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olusegun Olaleye, has vowed to stage a one man protest to President Muhammadu Buhari demanding immediate prosecution of former minister indicted for corruption.
The lawmaker while addressing a press conference in Ibadan on Monday, said he was concerned about the delay in the arrest and prosecution of those that have hands in the stealing the country’s resources.
He said he is going to stage the protest on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to support the crusade to rescue the country from those he described as political vampires.
Speaking under the aegis of Anti-Corruption Watch, he said it is shameful that the former Coordinating minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said the Federal Government under former President Jonathan resorted to borrowing in order to pay salaries and fund other recurrent expenditure.
He wondered what could be responsible for the disappearance of billions of dollars of oil revenue and the excess crude account which was nearly emptied by the last administration.
Mr. Olaleye is positive that if the former minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke is held responsible for the revelations from the petroleum sector, it will serve as a deterrent to other public office holders.
