The National Broadcasting Station (NBC) has sanctioned Channels Television, Arise Television and Africa Independent Television for what it termed “unprofessional coverage” of the #EndSARS protests.
The acting Director-General of the NBC, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
NBC fined the three stations between N2million and N3million for airing unverified images of the alleged Lekki shooting.
Recall that the Nigerian youths had taken to the street in their numbers to protest against Police brutality and killing of Nigerians by SARS.
The protest which began on a peaceful note has since gone violence, with many states experiencing wanton destructions and looting of public and private properties.
