Nigeria has recorded 300 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 64,090.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this in a late night tweet on Sunday.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from six states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC of the new cases, 255 were recorded in Lagos, 27 in FCT, 10 in Oyo, Kaduna-5 Ondo 1 and  2 Kano.

NCDC said till date, 64,090 infectons have been confirmed, 59,910 treated and discharged and 1,154 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT ABUJA.

The Health Agency said that it has activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), at Level III to coordinate the national response activities.

“It is crucial to limit the risk of COVID-19 infection across all ages. Take responsibility to protect children as school resumes.

“Encourage your children to wear a mask. Wash their hands frequently Cough/ sneeze into your elbow and report when feeling sick,” it advised.
