Nigeria has recorded 156 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 64,884.

Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Friday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country also recorded one new COVID-19 related death in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 11 states including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

According to the NCDC, of the new cases 70 were recorded in Lagos, 22 in FCT, 18 in Kaduna and 15 in Rivers state.

Other states with new infections include, Plateau-11 Ogun-10 Bauchi-3 Katsina-3 Kano-2 Ekiti-1 Osun-1.

NCDC said till date, 64,884 cases have been confirmed, 60,936 treated and discharged and 1,163 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.
