Nigeria has recorded 246 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 66,228.
Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Saturday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country also reported one new COVID-19 related death in he last 24 hours under review.
The Health Agency said the new cases were recorded in 11 states including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 66 were recorded in Lagos, 63 in Plateau, 48 in FCT and 21 in Kaduna.
Other states with new cases include, Bayelsa-19 Rivers-12 Niger-9 Ogun-4 Ekiti-2 Bauchi-1 Osun-1.
NCDC said till date, 66,228 infections have been confirmed, 61,884 treated and discharged and 1,166 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.
The centre disclosed that it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre at Level III to coordinate the national response activities in the country.
The agency, therefore, advised Nigerians to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols to stay safe, stressing that the Coronavirus pandemic was not over yet.
