Nigeria has recorded 168 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 66,607.

Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Tuesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country also reported one new COVID-19 related death in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 10 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 61 were recorded in FCT, 50 IN Lagos, 27 in Kaduna and 12 in Oyo state.

Other states with new cases include,  Rivers-6 Katsina-5 Ogun-3 Kwara-2 Edo-1 Kano-1.

NCDC said till date, 66,607 infections have been confirmed, 62,311 treated and discharged and 1,169 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.

The centre disclosed that it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre at Level III to coordinate the national response activities in the country.

The agency, therefore, advised Nigerians to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols to stay safe, stressing that the Coronavirus pandemic was not over yet.
