Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, and minority leader of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has been flown abroad for further medical attention after Monday auto crash that got him briefly admitted in an Abuja Hospital. He was accompanied by cardiologist and a general doctor.
Senator Akpabio was involved in the accident early on Monday when his convoy crashed into another vehicle, an armoured Suburban SUV which was part of a US convoy, while trying to beat a traffic light. No one died in the incident.
Though he responded to initial treatment at the trauma centre of the National Hospital, Abuja, which led to his being discharged later in the day, there were indications that the former governor will be seeking further evaluation and possible treatment in a London Hospital.
