Police in Rivers State has banned private individuals from using siren in the state.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Ahmad Muhammad, in a statement said the restriction is to be enforced in all parts of the state.

‘’No private individual is allowed to use siren anywhere in the State.

‘’Bullion vans are also not allowed to use siren, except when piloted by police pilot vehicle,’’ it said.

The statement listed some exemptions which include the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker House of Representatives and Inspector-General of police.

Others allowed to use siren are Governors, Service Chiefs, General Officers Commanding, Assistant Inspector-General of Police and commissioner of police. Ambulance vehicles and fire fighting vehicles will not be restricted.

The command warns those who are in the habit of using siren when they are not entitled to it to be mindful that such acts will be visited with dare consequences.
