A High Court in Rivers State has sentenced an Inspector of Police, Timothy Samuel, to death by hanging for shooting and killing a graduate along the Old Port Harcourt-Aba Road in 2010.
Delivering judgment today in Port Harcourt, Justice Adolphus Enebeli described the Inspector as a trigger happy police officer that deserve to be killed.
Witnesses said the convicted Police Inspector chased his victim, an Industrial Chemist graduate who was producing pure water to his house and shot him dead for allegedly invading arrest over a traffic offence.

Inspector Samuel had served the Nigeria Police for 33 years and was 2 years away from his retirement before the incident took place on November 10, 2010.
