Tension brews in the Senate as 83 out of 109 members of the Senate move vote of confidence on the leadership of the Senate. The ruling raised dust that almost resulted in fisticuffs among opposing lawmakers.
In his opening remark at plenary, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki said his Trial at the code of conduct bureau is simply because he is the President of the Senate and the powers that be outside the walls of the national assembly are struggling to come to terms with that.
Meanwhile, he Senate has received a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari requesting the confirmation of the appointment of William Babatunde as the executive chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Services.
The President is also asking the Senate to confirm Ahmed Lawan as Managing Director of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria and Umar Gamba Dambata as the Executive Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission.
The letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki is seeking the approval of two hundred million dollars from the world bank for Lagos State Development Policy programme.
