The Ogun State Government has denied report in the dailies that it ordered the arrest of a blogger who reported a controversial story about the wife of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Emmanuel Ojo, a blogger (pictured above) had been arrested by the Ogun State Police command over a report of alleged quizing of Mrs Olufunsho Amosun over Money Laundering in London.
Secretary to the state government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, on Tuesday described the report as blatant lies. He said the governor was in Saudi Arabia observing 2015 Hajj when the story broke in Nigeria and so could not have ordered such arrest from the holy land.
Mr. Adeoluwa who represented the governor at an Independence Lecture held at the NUJ secretariat, Ibadan said such report is unfair to the governor and the people of Ogun state.
According to him, the State government had reported the case to police since the story broke early this year.
He noted that Nigeria police are professional and the governor of the State could not interfere in their investigations.
He wondered why some people will come up with such malicious statements to distract the governor and the good people of the state.
