She was first appointed into the federal cabinet in July 2007 by late President Umar Musa Yar’adua as the Minister of Transport. Many will remember her era because of the tears she shed at the Lagos Benin express road moaning the terrible state of the road.
In December 2008, Diezani Alison Madueke became the Minister of Mines and Steel.
By March 2010, when new President Goodluck Jonathan was forming his cabinet, Mrs. Madueke was made the Minister of Petroleum, an office she held till May 29, 2015.
She became the President of the 166th Organisation of Oil Producing Countries on the 27th of November 2014.
Diezani in 1999 got married to Admiral Alison Madueke, who was former Military Administrator and Chief of Naval Staff.

Now, more information are beginning to emerge over the allegation of money laundering handing over the head of one of the most powerful ministers in the last administration, Diezani Alison- Madueke.
It is now clear that those arrested along the former Petroleum Minister include her mother, Beatrice Agama, her son, Ugonna Madueke and one Melany Spencer, a Swiss lady married to a Ghanaian associate of the former minister, Kevin Okyere. Kevin who is biggest financier of the opposition party in Ghana, owns Spring Field Oil and Gas which is said to have handled key contracts on behalf of Mrs. Madueke.
Mrs. Madueke was at the verge of purchasing a property worth 13 billion pounds on Hyde Park in Central London before the lid on her was removed.
There is an unconfirmed report that the former minister is down with cancer.
The list of Mrs. Madueke’s associates presently in public domain suggests that their life style may have had a negative implication on her predicament.
