From Paul Ibe
Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has again come under attack for shying away from an Igbo Presidency in the next dispensation. This time, it is coming from the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
Gov. Okorocha has been reported to be kin in contesting for the presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor, spoke in Owerri, the Imo state capital when he received the Enugu Zonal Director and management team of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in his office.
He asserted that the country belonged to all Nigerians and wondered why Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo should champion the cause of discouraging an Igbo man from aspiring for the highest position in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Gov. Okorocha challenged the federal government owned stations to pursue the goal of uplifting the people and uniting the nation by being objective in their reportage.
He regretted that FRCN had failed to give elaborate report on the abandoned Imo axis of the Port-Harcourt-Owerri Road which posed great danger to motorists plying the highway.
Enugu Zonal Director of FRCN, Chigozie Obialor, while introducing the team, told the governor that they were in Owerri to hold their Annual conference.
Mr. Obialor appreciated the Governor for providing the station with conducive atmosphere for operation in Owerri and requested for an operation vehicle for the Owerri Station.
