Abia State government has warned the All Progressive Congress in the state to desist from all acts that will threaten the peace in the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Godwin Adindu, said the leader of APGA and some miscreants on Tuesday, blocked the Umuahia, Ikot Ekpene expressway in protest to series of defeats the party and its candidates have suffered at various election petition tribunals.
” APGA leaders in conjunction with some miscreants resorted to this animal display as a ploy to blackmail the tribunal into perverting the course of justice by giving the impression that there is a total breakdown of law and order as a result of the tribunal rulings.
The statement warned that Abia state government will not allow any breach of peace or any attempt to create insecurity in the state as this will be resisted with the full weight of the law.
“If APGA members have had a bad case in the tribunal, there is still a window in the appeal court. The right recourse is not to take to the streets or resort to creating mayhem.
“Government is hereby warning all APGA members to remain law abiding as all the security agencies have been mobilized to crush any form of breach of peace by any group or persons,” the statement said.
