As the people of Abia South senatorial zone of Abia state continue to make underground politicking to shop for a replacement for Governor Theodore Orji in 2015, they have been told to play purposeful politics and not play to the gallery.
Special Adviser to Gov. Orji on Political Matters, Chief Amah Abraham who stated this in Umuahia, said, since the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the state and the governor announced the zoning of the seat to Abia South, all that the aspirants have been doing is to spend money on perceived stakeholders.
He said they have the opportunity at this time to convince the populace on why they should choose them as the next governor, saying the state has grown beyond the politics of “stomach infrastructure”.
He therefore advised them to endeavour to tell their people and the party stakeholders what they intend to do for the state if elected.
According to Chief Amah, even though the governor and the party have done the right thing by the zoning for equity and political balance, the decision could be upturned by the people at the primaries, adding that the governor would not be blamed if it happens.
In his words “I think what the governor has done to take power to Ukwa/Ngwa will reduce political tension in the state through zoning”.
The Special Adviser, who also served former Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu, frowned at the media war his former boss has declared against the incumbent and suggested that the only way to end the face-off was to have the two men in an oral and written debate on their achievements while in office.
