afam ogene

From Ikenna Maxwell, Awka

Member of the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene may be having his path towards returning to the legislative house next year dimmed by the interest declared by the Speaker of the Anambra state house of assembly, Chinwe Nwebili.

Both are from the Ogbaru federal constituency of Anambra state.

Honourable Ogene was one of the legislators reported to have decamped from APGA to the PDP last month. And now, he seems to have retraced his steps and is longing to continue representing his people.

National Secretary of APGA, Sani Shinkafi has said that the party will not impose candidates on the people in the primary elections leading to the 2015 general election.

Speaking at Okpoko, near Onitsha on Sunday, during the commissioning of two water project completed by Afam Ogene, the national secretary, eulogised the lawmaker for the effective representation of the people.

He assured that his party will organise free, fair and transparent primaries for those aspiring to contest in the next year’s general election.

In his speech, Honourable Ogene debunked the impression being created that he was new in the party, insisting that he has been part of the struggle for the restoration of the mandate of former Governor, Peter Obi after the impeachment.

Mr. Ogene said that in spite of campaign of calumny against him, he is not afraid or deterred no matter the enormity of opposition, saying that God will always be on his side, as in 2011, he was told not to come out because he would be assassinated but he defied them.
