From Ejike Chinedu, Lagos

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the possibility of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fielding multiple candidates for each electoral position in the 2015 general elections in Anambra State.

He also in a letter to the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu urged him to do everything to ensure that the party does not willingly or negligently parade multiple candidates for the coming elections.

Umeh threatened that APGA and its candidates will go to court to seek the disqualification of the PDP and its purported multiple candidates for the National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Anambra State in 2015.

In the letter addressed to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega,Umeh stated that they write to draw the attention of the Commission to another unfolding ugly situation of the PDP likely to field multiple candidates for each of the elective position to be contested in the forthcoming 2015 general elections in Anambra State

He further stated that with the reported parallel ward congresses of the PDP on Saturday, 1st November 1st,2014, the stage was now set again for PDP to file candidates to the Commission in the forthcoming general elections in 2015 Anambra State.

Umeh implore the INEC boss to use his good office to direct that the Commission shall receive only one list of candidates from the PDP for the National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Anambra State for the 2015 general elections,

He advised the Commission to be proactive in arresting this illegality to maintain sanity in the electoral process” he declared.
