Nigerians who travel to Indonesia and those who reside in the country are constantly threatened with imprisonment and death.
The last victim, 33-year-old Uzoma Elele Alpha may have been lucky to have gotten a life imprisonment sentence because the prosecutor was pushing for a death sentence.
Uzoma was on Monday convicted for possessing banned methamphetamine and marijuana worth an estimated $451,400.
He was arrested in his residence where he was also found to be living in the country illegally. When a search was conducted at the Margonda Residence Tower in Depok, the banned substances were found in his home.
The prosecutor, Eddy Abdul Aziz, said his team are dissatisfied with the judgment and are considering going for an appeal. 4 Nigerians were killed in Indonesia in April for drug trafficking.
