Activities of impostors who claim to be one influential person or the other have been on the rise. The latest victim is the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode. He has been impersonated by some individuals who defraud members of the public.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Habib Aruna, said the suspects are capitalizing on the governor’s goodwill to dupe members of the public particularly his associates.
According to the CPS, several complaints have been sent in by his associates over the rate at which the governor’s identity is being cloned in the cyberspace with the intention of catch unsuspecting members of the public.
The governor urged Nigerians to ignore any offer purported to be coming from him on the social media and the internet particularly from one who operates with an e-mail: a_ambode@yahoo.com
The fellow and his likes are alleged to have opened face book account with his name and photograph and initiating deals to those they perceive as profiting targets for fraud.
