The President-elect has dropped the title of “General” to be known simply as Muhammadu Buhari. By May 29, when he would have been sworn-in, he would be known as the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This was contained in a short statement released by the President-elect’s media team.

The team also released the official pictures of the incoming President and his Vice.

Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the March 28 Presidential election, after four attempts, in which he defeated the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan.

He had been address as General Buhari following his position as a former military officer. He rose to become a military head of state between 1983 to 1985.
