The Federal Government has expressed concern over reports alleging that hundreds of Nigerian children are being trafficked from some of the Internally Displaced Persons (lDPs) camps
Reports from the International Centre for Investigative Reporting had alleged that hundreds of Nigerian children are being trafficked from some of the Internally Displaced Persons camps set up to cater for people displaced by the activities of insurgents in the Northeast Geo-Political Zone.
Statement from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and m Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, hinted that Inter-Ministerial Committee comprising of relevant agencies has been set up to commence investigation into the matter
The committee according to the statement is to among other things hold accountable all those found culpable in the nefarious acts and recommend appropriate measures to forestall future occurrence
The Government said it has taken steps to strengthen security around all registered lDP Camps and directed the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons to conduct enlightenment campaigns for care-givers in the Camps.
