It is now confirmed that the embattled suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is in the custody of the Department of State Services.
On Friday night, several media reported that Mr. Godwin Emefiele was arrested by the DSS, few hours after President Bola Tinubu approved his suspension.
The DSS refused to either confirm or deny the report.
But this Saturday afternoon, a video emerged where the former CBN governor was driven to an unidentified airport in a white and unmarked utility truck.
The video showed some security personnel come around the truck, allowed Mr. Emefiele, dressed in a grey caftan, come out from the back seat of the vehicle before being led into a waiting airplane.
It is uncertain where the man who has been in the eye of the storm since his failed currency redesign policy was reported to have targeted top ‘money bag’ politicians, was taken to, but DSS says he is with the agency.
Moments after the video was made public, spokesperson of the secret service, Peter Afunanya, released a statement to confirm that Mr. Emefiele is with the operatives.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this,” Afunanya said.

But what HOMELAND NEWS can report now, is that Mr. Emefiele is most likely a guest of the DSS
Mr. Emefiele is being accused of misusing his office and funding terror activities, an allegation that if proven, carries severe and long jail term.
