The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu
Tambuwal has told a Federal Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit
by the Peoples Democratic Party seeking to declare his seat vacant
following his defection to the APC.
Speaker Tambuwal said the PDP’s suit should be dismissed on the ground that it is incompetent,
has no reasonable cause of action.

hearing of the suit till the 3rd March, to enable parties respond to
Mr. Tambuwal’s application as well as the joinder application.

lost his seat by reason of his defection.
So the party is seeking an order the court compelling Mr. Tambuwal to give effect to the relevant sections of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria by declaring his seat in the House of Representatives vacant.
Aminu Tambuwal was elected member of the House of Representatives on the platform of the PDP. On October 28, 2014, Speaker Tambuwal announced his defection to the APC. He cited alleged divisions in the Sokoto State Chapter of the PDP for being responsible for the move.
