Executives of the Nigeria Medical Association in Rivers State have held a crucial meeting with Governor CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI behind closed door on increased rate of doctors kidnapped in the state. The closed door meeting follows a peaceful protest to by the doctors to register their grievances.
Details of the meeting between the governor and the executives of the Rivers State NMA were not made known to journalists.
The chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in Rivers State FURO GREEN said Governor Amaechi showed enough will to address the frequent kidnapping of doctors in the state.
The NMA Chairman wondered why doctors who render essential and humanitarian services are now targeted by kidnappers in Rivers State.
DR GREEN told journalists that four doctors have been kidnapped in the last six day in Rivers State.
We gathered that the abductors of a medical doctor kidnapped few days ago are now demanding N80m for his release.
