The state governor has, Nyesom Wike, has told all banks and financial institutions not to approve or give loans to Local governments, ministries and parastatals without his express approval in writing.
A statement signed by Opunabo Inko-Tariah warned that the consequence of violating the directive will certainly not be palatable for such institutions.
It will be recalled that the administration of Chibike Rotimi Amaechi conducted the local government elections in Rivers State one week before leaving office as governor of the state.
The APC which is now the opposition party in Rivers won 22 out 23 local government areas in the state.
