Recent comments by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State that his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC will not seek redress in a court of law if the 2015 elections are rigged has cone under heavy criticism.

Dr. Doyen Okupe,‎ the senior special assistant to the President on public affairs while describing Gov. Amaechi as being plainly mischievous and behaving true to type like an anarchist, described the statement as treasonable.

Gov. Amaechi was reported to have told journalists at Abuja during the APC Salvation Rally that APC leaders have resolved not to go to the tribunal if they are dissatisfied with the election results, stressing that rebellion or civil disobedience would be the order of the day.

Dr. Okupe accused Gov. Amaechi of fanning the embers of violence through their “unguarded comments”

But recently, the governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema while speaking to supporters in Katsina referred to the “opposition” in the state as cockroaches. Speaking in Hausa Language in a video that has gone viral, the governor asked the crowd “what do you do to cockroach when you find it in the house?” the crowd chorused “you kill it”.

Gov. Shema told his supporters to prepare to resist any “intimidation” from the other political parties.

Observers are still waiting for Dr. Okupe’s comments on this; whether it is treasonable or not. Whether it is in-sighting violence or not.
