Director General of the Department of State Services, Ita Ekpeyong has been sacked. He is replace by Lawal Daura.
A statement from the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, and signed by the Director of Communications, Haruna Imrana, the change of guard in the country’s secret police was announced.
Before the new appointment, Lawal Daura was a Director in the secret service which he joined in 1982.
He had also served as the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre, at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007. In addition, he at different times was state director of the service in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun, and Imo states.
He holds a bachelors degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and had attended various professional courses which include the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
