An Abia state High court sitting in Aba, has sealed the premises of the Enterprise Bank LTD in Aba and Umuahia for failure to remit the sum of N220,227,670 to Abia state Board of Internal revenue.
The money is the amount deducted from staff salaries as PAYEE.
The sealing of the premises was carried out in the night unlike the previous exercises as the reason given was to do so when workers will not be at the office.
The order of the court include that if after 14 days, the bank fails to make commitment to paying its debt, the property should be sold.
The chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, Udochukwu Ogbonna said the body will continue to sanction erring companies until they do the needful and stop withholding staff deductions.
