Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, has met with school teachers numbering sixty-five in Baga town, where he put them to an impromptu competency test to determine the level of their qualifications and ability to teach.

Prof. Zulum told the teachers that the essence of the aptitude test is not to sack anyone, but to determine their capacity and how they can be helped to be better.

According to the governor, those that cannot teach would be given a choice, either to be redeployed to the administrative cadre, or go for further training.

After interacting and revealing their aptitude test results, Governor Zulum announced a package of N20,000 for each teacher while Senior Secondary School Principals and Primary School Head Teachers each got N50,000.
