After weeks of speculations, Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, Emeka Nwogu of the Labour Ministry and four others have resigned from the federal cabinet.
Prof Chukwu is being taunted as a possible successor to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Martin Elechi. And Chief Emeka Nwogu is also reported to be eyeing the governorship of Abia State.
Early last week, HOMELAND NEWS reported that Gov. Elechi is mobilizing support for Prof. Chukwu through the consensus candidate arrangement. But on Monday, some groups in Ebonyi state PDP rejected the arrangement and urged the national leadership of the party to conduct primaries.
Chief Nwogu has enjoyed rising popularity in national politics. He is said to be favoured by some interests in the Presidency. But how all these will translate to electoral victory first at the PDP primary in Abia State and then the governorship election is yet unclear.
