Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, also known as Baba ijesha, has been found guilty of indecent treatment and sexual assault of a minor.
The offence was committed between 2013-2014.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court held that the prosecution successfully proved counts 2 and 4, that he indecently places her on his laps and rubbed his penis on her body.
He is also found guilty of counts 4 and 5, where he was accused of again indecently touching the same minor.
The actor sexually assaulted the minor seven years later by rubbing her body and sucking her fingers.
But justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo found him not guilty of count 1 which deals with allegedly sexually assaulting the minor by penetration with his car key seven years ago.
He is sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.
The court also found him not guilty of count 6, where he was accused of attempted sexual assault by penetration during another encounter with the minor in April 2021.
Defence counsel, Dada Awosika (SAN), in adopting his final written address dated May 12 and filed on May 16, urged the court to dismiss the suit and discharge the defendant.
Mr. Awosika arguing that the footage of the Closed-Circuit Television used to capture the controversial encounter, which he claims was a skit, between the actor and the child in question was illegally obtained.
But, the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr Babajide Martins, urged the court to convict Baba Ijesha as charged.
He argued that one of the defence witness, Lawrence Ayeni told the court that the CCTV recording could not be manipulated.
The DPP said the defendant also admitted during the trial that he never mentioned that he was acting a script when he was detained by the police at Sabo and Panti.
