From Paul Ibe, Enugu
Enugu based fire brand Catholic Priest, Ejike Mbaka on Sunday threw his weight behind the aspiration of Deputy President of Senate, Ike Ekweremadu to return to the Senate for the fourth term in 2015.
In the words of the Reverend Father, “We have had a Senate President, and we have equally had Senators, but it is Senator Ekweremadu that has given the people of Enugu and the South East the feel of governance.
“Many of the roads and development projects you see around Awgu, Oji-River, Ezeagu, Aninri, and many parts of Enugu and the South East came courtesy of the quality representation by Senator Ike Ekweremadu.”
The cleric, was speaking during his weekly prayer vigil at the Adoration Ministry ground in Enugu, and said that Senator Ekweremadu, had done so well and deserved to be re-elected for a 4th time.
“Besides, he is here with his wife, he has demonstrated the ability to keep his family, and that is the first test of leadership”. The cleric added.
Rev. Fr. Mbaka, at the same time, described the impeachment of the ex-deputy governor of the state, Sunday Onyebuchi as demonstration of wicked politics.
In his speech, Sen. Ekweremadu who said he was at the adoration ground to seek the face of God towards his senatorial ambition and a peaceful 2015 election, thanked the congregation, and the people of Enugu State and the South East for their support and prayers.
He said although the PDP had started selling nomination forms, he believed it was more important to commit his 2015 electoral journey to God first before picking a form.
Similarly, ArchBishop of Enugu province of the Anglican church, Most Revd. Emanuel Chukwuma on Sunday announced that Ekweremadu remains their Enugu West senatorial candidate in 2015.
Enugu West Ministers Forum EWMF, a body made up Pentecostal churches clerics, had last week also declared their support for the DSP in 2015, saying he has done well in the Senate and should re-elected.
