The Minister of Environment Amina Muhammad has confirmed that more than 1,000 company has indicated interest to undertake the clean up of oil impacted sites in Ogoni.
The Minister of Environment confirmed this at a one day sensitization forum of Stakeholders on the pre and post launch activities for the clean up of Ogoni and other oil impacted communities in the Niger Delta region.
Amina Muhammad also said her ministry has put in place three committees to train and sensitize the people.
The minister of Niger Delta Affairs Usani Uguru Usani who was also at the sensitization forum called for the cooperation of youths in the Niger Delta towards a successful clean up of the environment.
Rivers State government says it will give all supports to the federal government before, during and after the clean up of oil impacted sites in Ogoniland.
Governor Nyesom Wike represented by the state Commissioner for Environment Professor Roselyn Konya at a presentation on sensitization for the clean up of Ogoniland gave the assurance while speaking at the sensitization forum.
Some Ogoni stakeholders who were at the forum urged government to be there with the clean up in the next six months.
Leadership of MOSOP, youths, women groups and some representatives from Shell Development Company as well as the Netherland attended the forum
The host community to the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bori has distanced itself from calls for the probe of the activities of the 8th Governing Council and management of the polytechnic.
The host community to the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bua Zaakpon said the call for the probe of the Governing Council does not represent the views of the people of Bua Zaakpon and should be disregarded.
A statement signed by one of the sons of the paramount ruler of Bua Zaakpon, Fiinor Tigidam said the community is pleased with all actions taken so far by the 8th Governing Council and Management of the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bori led by Adokiye Amiesimaka.
Fiinor Tigidam further said the host community of the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bua Zaakpon has passed a vote of confidence on the 8th Governing Council and Management of the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bori.
