Indications are emerging that the federal government will be removing subsidy on petrol completely. Government will be spending the proceeds for the provision of free primary and secondary education across the country.
President Mohammadu Buhari will also be taken steps to unbundle the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for more efficiency. It is expected that all refineries in Nigeria are to be made to work at maximum capacity by the federal government to be able to deliver adequate products to the consumers.
These are some of the strong recommendations made by the transition committee set up by President Buhari.
A source close to the committee said the labour community are in the know of the proposals and have made their input. The source added that the federal government may set up a committee to harmonise views from all stakeholders on how the policies will be implemented.
