From Paul Ibe, Enugu

Kinsmen of the governor of Enugu state, Sullivan Chime have described as “utterly ridiculous” media reports that they have endorsed the senatorial bid of the current deputy president of the senate, Ike Ekweremadu.

Ward Chairman of the PDP in Udi, Ogochukwu Chime, described the purported endorsement report as baseless, describing those behind it as mischief makers and political desperadoes.

In a statement made available to HOMELAND NEWS in Enugu, interim President of Enugu Professional Forum, Nebechi Ugo called the report in question a syndicated fabrication

It said, “Not only did no such thing happen but the people mentioned in the story are not from Udi and therefore cannot be Chime’s kinsmen.”

The group said the event where the purported endorsement came out from was not a political gathering but a burial ceremony in the governor’s hometown attended by the Deputy Senate President and his friends.

Gov. Sullivan Chime and Senator Ike Ekweremadu are locked in a duel of who will fly the flag of the PDP for the Enugu West Senatorial election next year. While Gov. Chime is holding firm his Udi axis of the zone, Senator Ekweremadu has proven solid in the Awgu area of the state. Keen watchers are anxious to see who will be endorsed by the national executive of PDP.
