Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has warned public servants in the state to stay clear of partisan politics, particularly as the general elections draw near.

Governor Dickson gave the charge at the swearing in ceremony of Dr.Josephine  Igodo as the new Head of Service, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.

The Governor noted that, her appointment as the new Head of Service was coming at a time when political activities were being heightened in the state and country.

He admonished public servants not to constitute themselves into what he described as, an arm of the opposition in the polity.

Gov. Dickson also urged the new leadership of the public service to collaborate with the government to carry on the reforms being instituted by the restoration government towards professionalizing the public service.

Our correspondent reports that the governor has also approved the appointment of the former Director General of the Bayelsa State Tourism Board Mrs Ebizi Brown as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa.

It will be recalled that Governor Dickson on Monday in what appears to be a furtherance of the presumed rift between him and First Lady Patience Jonathan sacked two female government officials said to be loyalists of wife of President Jonathan, Patience.
