pirates

Gunmen suspected to be pirates have attacked and killed three soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force , Operation Pulo Shield, along the waterways of Bayelsa State.

HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the pirates also hijacked a military gunboat after killing their victims on Sunday.

The three  soldiers were ambushed and killed at Santa Barbara river in Nembe Local Government Area.

The soldiers were said to be escorting items to Brass terminal owned by the Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC, when the gunmen opened fire on them.

However the spokesman of the JTF, Col. Mustapha Anka, confirmed the attack but said it was premature to conclude that the soldiers were killed by the pirates.
