One policeman is now feared dead as gunmen suspected to be militants attacked a patrol van of the Bayelsa State special police squad, codenamed, Operation Doo-Akpo.
Two of the militants also lost their lives in a gun duel that followed the attack.
The incident occurred along the Opume,Nembe road.
The slain policeman, a sergeant, who was identified as Mathew Simon, was said to have been hit by the assailants’ bullets.
It was gathered that the patrol van was drafted to guard workers constructing the Ogbia-Nembe road.
Also in a separate incident, gunmen operating on a speedboat have kidnapped four employees of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Southern Ijaw local government of Bayelsa State.
It was gathered that the workers were traveling on a speedboat from Amasoma to Ogoimbiri, before they met their abductors.
