National President of Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP) Comrade F.O Faniran  has set minimum conditions to be met by the federal government for calling off its ongoing strike.

these were immediate release of the circular on adjustment of salary and immediate payment of two months arrears on newly adjusted salary structure with the promise to pay the remaining in 2015 budget,

Without these, he declared that the lingering industrial crisis going on in public hospitals would not be called off.

Comrade Faniran apologised to members of the public who are feeling the adverse effect of the strike pointing out that the NUAHP members have no other option than proceeding with the strike.

Addressing a press conference in Ibadan Thursday,Comrade F.O Faniran  said that the union concluded by “asking the government to establish a level of trust by implementing the agreements reached with the union/court judgements while relevant circulars should be released immediately”

Faniran added that others included immediate release of circular on the payment of arrears on skipping of CONHESS 10 salary as well as circularization of retirement age of health care workers from 60 to 65 years.

He said that it was unfortunate that the Federal Government has been partial in the preferential treatment being given members of Nigerian Medical Association adding that they were never denied of their rights for long at any time such demands were made.

Answering questions, the President explained that about five different professionals in the hospital have their relevance stressing that even cleaners duties in the hospital are crucial

He alleged that some top members of NMA are so selfish and callous to the extent that they are preventing other professionals from becoming consultants.
