Nigeria has recorded 1565 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 95,934.
Announcing the new figures in a late tweet on Thursday, the Nigeria Centre for Diases Control(NCDC) disclosed that the unfortunately recorded six new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Heath Agency said the new cases were reported from 25 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According to the NCDC of the new Cases, 807 were recorded in Lagos, 236 in FCT, 79 in Kaduna, 57 in Oyo and 47 in Plateau state.
Other states with new cases include, Rivers-37 Katsina-35 Edo-30 Sokoto-30 Delta-26 Kebbi-23 Ondo-20 Enugu-18 Abia-17 Ogun-17 Benue-16 Bayelsa-15 Bauchi-14 Niger-13 Kano-10 Borno-6 Imo-5 Ekiti-4 Osun-2 Jigawa-1
NCDC said till date, 95934 cases have been confirmed, 77,982 treated and discharged and 1330 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The agency said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level III, is coordinating response activities nationwide.
The agency stated that the infections had been on the rise since December 2020 with cases still concentrated in two major cities, Lagos state and FCT.
The NCDC has so far tested 1,004,915 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced in the country in February 2020.
