Nigeria has recorded 1,544 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 97,478.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official twitter handle on Friday.
The Health Agency said the country unfortunately recorded twelve new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Centre said the new cases were reported from 21 states including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
Lagos continue to lead the daily chart with 739 new cases recorded, followed by Palteau and FCT with 168 and 153 cases respectively.
Other states with new cases include, Oyo-91 Nasarawa-90 Rivers-80 Kaduna-35 Edo-33 Kano-29 Ogun-21 Delta-19 Sokoto-16 Akwa Ibom-11 Ebonyi-11 Enugu-10 Osun-10 Niger-9 Bauchi-8 Kebbi-8 Katrina-2 Taraba-1.
NCDC said till date, 97,478 cases have been confirmed, 78,552 treated and discharged and 1,342 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.
The cases seem not to be slowing down and the Federal Government has hinted on the possibility of another lockdown if the numbers continue to skyrocket.
The agency said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level III, is coordinating response activities nationwide.
