Nigeria has recorded 685 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 131,242.
Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Sunday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country unfortunately recorded eight (8) new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Health Agency said the cases were reported from 16 states excluding the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 355 were recorded in Lagos, 58 in Kaduna, 46 in Nasarawa and 40 in Kano state.
Other states with new cases include, Akwa Ibom-33 Katsina-26 Ogun-25 Osun-21 Rivers-16 Edo-15 Oyo-13 Ondo-12 Borno-11 Ekiti-9 Kebbi-3 Plateau-2.
NCDC said till date, 131,242 cases have been confirmed, 104,989 treated and discharged and 1,586 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT Abuja.
The Centre said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was coordinating response activities nationwide.
