Nigeria has recorded 240 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 155,657.

Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Sunday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) disclosed that the country also recorded 2 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 13 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC, Anambra state topped the daily cases toll with 85 new cases  followed by Lagos and Osun state with 82 and 17 infections respectively.

Other states with new cases include, Ogun-10 Kwara-9 FCT-8 Kano-7 Abia-6 Borno-4 Edo-2 Bayelsa-2 Kaduna-2 Rivers-1.

NCDC said till date, 155,657 have been confirmed, 133,768 treated and discharged and 1,907 deaths recorded in 6 states and the FCT Abuja.

The Centre said a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities nationwide.
