Nigeria records 479 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number confirmed infections in the country to 156,496.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, disclosed in a late night tweet via it official tweeter handle on Tuesday.
The Health Agency said the country unfortunately recorded 8 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Centre said the new cases were reported from 22 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According to the NCDC, Lagos continued to lead the daily chart with 153 new cases, followed by Enugu and Rivers state with 75 and 5 cases respectively.
Other states with new cases include, FCT-40 Kaduna-18 Ebonyi-17 Plateau-17 Edo-17 Borno-16 Oyo-12 Kano-11 Abia-10 Cross River-10 Taraba-9 Nasarawa-7 Bauchi-4 Bayelsa-3 Delta-3 Ekiti-2 Niger-2 Ogun-2 Akwa Ibom-1.
NCDC said till date, 156,496 cases have been confirmed, 134,551 treated and discharged and 1923 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital TerritoryAbuja.
The Centre said a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities nationwide.
Meanwhile, Nigeria alongside Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday recieved doses of COVID-19 Vaccines through COVAX.
The Centre said this was a very important step toward equitable distribution of vaccines and lessons for future outbreaks.
