President Bola Tinubu on Friday met with the former governor of Delta state, James Ibori and his counterpart from Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Also at the meeting was the current governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde.

The guests who are all member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, arrived at the presidential villa at about 4:20pm and moved into the President’s office for the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting or outcome is not known to the media yet but this may be part of the new federal government’s efforts to build bridges across major political parties.

It is also not surprising as the guests have some affiliation with President Bola Tinubu even before he was inaugurated into office.

Former Governor Ibori is a long-standing friend of the President who was also the governor of Lagos state, same period Mr. Ibori overseed the affairs of Delta state, 1999 – 2007.

On the other hand, Mr Wike and Mr. Makinde were part of the break-away G5, that abandoned the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his insistence to support Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman of the PDP.

Few days to the Presidential election, both Wike and Makinde openly endorsed the APC candidate and worked for the victory of President Tinubu at the polls in February.

Though President Tinubu was declared winner of the election, the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are challenging the result at the Presidential election petition tribunal.
