The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba has ordered the state Commissioners and Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police to secure arms and ammunition in the force Armouries across the country
Statement issued by the Force Headquarters said the security alert became imperative to ward off possible attempt by men of the underworld to attack Police stations and other installations.
Statement signed by Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Force Public Relations Officers also directs all Commissioners of Police to beef up security in and around banks within their jurisdictions and collaborate with bank authorities to secure their premises.
It would be recalled that the IGP had earlier directed an audit of Police Armouries nationwide with a view to securing the Police arms and ammunition
He enjoined members of the public to partner with the force to stamp out crimes in the country
