Deputy President of the Senate,m Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday clinched the PDP ticket for Enugu West Senatorial District, for the 2015 election.  He was returned unopposed after polling a total of 294 out of the 299 votes cast by the accredited delegates.

Announcing the result at the Awgu council headquarters, the returning officer for the primary election, Innocent Agbo, said the DSP had no challenger, hence he was returned unopposed.

Mister Agbo, a one-time secretary to Enugu state government disclosed that five votes were invalid, adding that 315 were the statutory delegates.

HOMELAND NEWS gathered that Ekweremadu became PDP sole aspirant after the state governor, Sullivan Chime withdrew from the race.

Senator Ekweremadu while speaking after the result was announced, dedicated the victory to Governor Chime who he said made personal sacrifice to return peach to the party.  He called for support for the governorship aspirant, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who was anointed by the governor.

Whether the storm is now over in Enugu State chapter of the PDP or not, and whether the “personal sacrifice” only amount to deceit, coming weeks will show.
