The reporter with the News Agency of Nigeria, Miss Chidi Opara has been released from the grips of kidnappers. She was abducted in the early hours of Thursday but was released on Friday without a ransom; the police has said.
The police also announced the freedom of the stolen two children of the same parents while the two man gang was apprehended.
Imo state police command arrested 16 suspects for various crimes ranging from Kidnapping, car snatching, armed robbery and child stealing.
Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Owerri, the state capital on Friday, the state Commissioner of Police, Austin Evbakhavbakun said that the successes recorded in the last few weeks was as a result of the new and adopted strategy of embracing community policing as canvassed by the Inspector General of police.
He said that the watchful eyes and dragnets of the police in the state have been taken deep down to the hinter land.
The police boss restated their commitment in flushing the state of all forms of criminality and advised criminals to turn into new leaves.
